I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Oakwood Bald Eagles

Hi, I am shaving my head for my sixth year this year. I truly believe that I am simply doing my part and helping as much as I can as I am a middle schooler. So why did I start? When I was in first grade, I knew that some of my friends were going to volunteer. I thought that it was so cool that I could help raise money, even though I was so small. It was incredible to think that I might be helping kids less fortunate than me. I had an extremely supportive family and friends, and I made over one thousand dollars that first year. That motivated me to keep going. The next year I made even more. I knew that I was extremely lucky and couldn't fathom what the less lucky had to be going through. It is extremely unfair and helping even in the least made me so happy. After a few more years, more and more of my friends stopped shaving. This made me want to do my part even more, and hopefully make up for some of the money not raised. I continue to shave my head and have no plans of stopping soon. I encourage others this year to join me, and maybe make a difference in devastating effects of childhood cancer. After six years I can confidently say that a shaved head is an extremely insignificant price to pay, in exchange for helping possibly a single unfortunate child. Thanks, Drew
