I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Teddy

Dear friends and family,

For the 13th consecutive year—I am going to shave my head for St. Baldrick's to raise money for childhood cancer research. My son and longtime shaving partner, Christopher (20!), now has a permanent “shave” as he attends Army Ranger School. I applaud that he did this for 10 years—right through high school.

As many of you know, our community has been personally affected by pediatric cancer. Teddy Gerber, then a third grader at Christopher’s school, was diagnosed with an Undifferentiated Sarcoma in November 2009. Very sadly, Teddy passed away in August 2010 after a very long and brave fight. Then our neighbor’s daughter, Grace Evanko, passed away after her own brave battle with an inoperable brain tumor.

"Team Teddy" was created as a way for us to join together and show support for Teddy and his family during a difficult time. The Gerber family has continued Team Teddy in his honor and to raise money on behalf of so many other brave kids fighting cancer now.

Since 2010 we have raised over 1.3 million dollars. Each year we pray that the money raised will help fund a research grant that finds the cure.

I hope you can make a donation. Please help me raise my goal of $3,000 by March 18. We are hoping to be back in person this year—stay tuned.

Thank you for your support.

With love and appreciation,

Jim
