I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Coaches United Against Cancer

Joey Boncoddo was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on November 25, 2020.

On Tuesday 11/24/20, a persistently tired and generally not feeling well Jo and mom made their way to the pediatrician and waited patiently (one of them more patient than the other…) for an hour for “just to be safe” bloodwork. They got the call the next morning that there was something abnormal about Jo's counts and they should head to Connecticut Children's Medical Center ER “to be safe.” They repeated the bloodwork and an oncologist told them her lab work was consistent with Leukemia and they would be moved to the PICU immediately to stabilize Jo and begin blood transfusions. Joey is currently in remission but will continue on a course of 24 months of chemotherapy. We all know plans change so for now they are taking each moment as it comes.

In honor of Joey, I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Joey is part of our “WAM Soccer Fam”. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching her brother for many years which has allowed me to know Joey most of her little life.

I am fundraising for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.  Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive.
