I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive.

On January 16th, 2018 my band teacher, David “Jon” Mortensen lost his hard fought battle against cancer. I do this for him! He was without a doubt the greatest teacher anyone could ask for! He was motivating, really funny, and he cared about his students. My favorite memory was when I was reporting an incident to my Middle School’s assistant principal and he came in and asked if this had anything to do with band. He was so relieved when I told him it was something. It just showed me that he cared. He always encouraged his students to stay in band and always praised his students. We were all devastated when we found out he passed away.

I will also be honoring 13 year old Morgan S. Morgan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March of 2012. Morgan is currently in Maintenance at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. She has remained very strong over the last 9 years and I couldn’t be more proud to honor such a strong individual!

I did St. Baldrick’s back in 8th grade previously to remember my Third Grade teacher, Mary K. Salerno who also died from cancer in 2015. When asked if I would do it again if I had the choice I said “Yes!” So here I am today!

Every donation counts! Let’s make the world a better place, together!
