I'm volunteering and raising money with St. Baldrick's to help kids with cancer!
With my campaign, I am honoring Jane Gunzelmann, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2017, and is the reason I have decided to dedicate my career to working in pediatric oncology. Jane has been through chemotherapy, surgery, antibody treatments, radiation, and a vaccine clinical trial so that she can hopefully stay in remission. I am choosing to support St. Baldrick's this spring in order to help develop lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids like Jane.
Did you know that every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive? Or that only 4% of national funding goes toward childhood cancer research? The St. Baldrick’s goal is to provide research funding and support for patients and families affected by childhood cancer. Not only are they focused on the immediate impact of the disease, but also the long term effects of treatment in these patients lives.
Now we need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids like Jane survive and thrive! Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together. The campaign will culminate in an event on May 3rd, where volunteers can shave or cut their hair in solidarity with pediatric cancer patients and there will also be a 5K this year. This is the 10th annual event where the Duke PA Program has joined with the West 94th Street Pub to raise money for St. Baldrick's
