I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.
This hits close to home as my daughter Avery was diagnosed in November 2018 with OMS (Opsoclonus-Myoclonus Syndrome). This is a super rare disorder that affects the nervous system. Part of this diagnosis was the presence of a neuroblastoma, or cancer found in the adrenal gland. Avery had successful surgery to have it removed. She has been in treatment ever since and making some good strides. We are hopeful she will be ringing the remission bell next month.
We are blessed to have come into contact with Anne & Robert Lurie Children's Hospital. After originally receiving a misdiagnosis at another hospital, we took Avery to Lurie Children's in hopes of answers. They found us answers and they have been incredible during her treatment process. Avery went from weekly infusions to monthly, and we have spent many days at the hospital. We have gotten to know many doctors and nurses. The staff there is truly amazing. We have met many families there who are going through difficult battles as well. St. Baldrick's is a chance to take a step in the right direction to raise money for lifesaving research to find cures and improve treatment methods.
Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
