I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Brenner's Baldies

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Brenner's Baldies

I'm shaving my head again (fourth year) to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

This year I am shaving in memory of Grace.  She is the daughter of some dear friend's of our family.  Here is a piece of her/their story in their words:

"Our daughter could light up a room with her smile.  She found joy in days filled with playing on her slide, being pulled in her Radio Flyer Wagon in the backyard, watching Elmo shows, playing with the toys in the aisle at Target, and going to get the occasional Ultra Carmel Frappuccino from Starbucks.  Unfortunately, she also spent a lot of days in a hospital room, in medical offices, and in waiting rooms.  Grace had a very rare form of childhood brain cancer called ETMR, it has a very low survival rate among those children diagnosed.

Even with Grace was undergoing treatments, she always carried herself with such strength and courage.  She once woke up from  one of her three resection surgeries wanting to eat pancakes and get her milk cup.

She loved animals, the scarier the better. Nothing ever scared her.  For that, I'm always proud and grateful.  She was one of a kind. I always think that regardless of how rare this form of cancer was, Grace herself was even more rare as a person.  She was beautiful, intelligent, tough and unique.

I despise cancer!  I despise the current "standard" treatments for cancer and I despise how little attention  childhood cancer awareness/funding gets.  We can do better! We owe it to each and every child.  We still talk with parents that have children going through this exact type (and other types) of cancer about treatment options and give our opinion/help in any way that we can.

Funding for childhood cancers has always been low, like REALLY low!  I honestly don't get it!  If you see any of these faces and see what these kids and their families go through firsthand, it will change your mind real quick about where we spend all our money.

Kids come first, always have and always will.  I thank each and every person that donates or stands up for awareness for childhood cancer out there.  What you do is hugely honorable and means more than you will every know to my family and all the families like ours.  God bless you and always keep these children and our daughter in mind."
