I'm raising money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
We are honoring a special little girl named Norah West. In November 2015, at just 2 years old, Norah West was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. Nori and her family live in Derby, Kansas and require countless trips to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City (about a 3 hour drive from home). Although they are deeply grateful for the treatment they received there, they also have to seek further treatment from the specialists at Memorial Sloan Kettering (which has a team devoted to neuroblastoma patients). Unfortunately, this requires a much longer trip to NYC on a regular basis and more research to be done to fight this nasty disease.
Each year, about 800 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma in the United States. It accounts for 6% of all childhood cancers in the United States. Almost 90% of neuroblastoma is found in children younger than 5. It is the third most common type of cancer in children.
