On April 12, I’ll be bald. BOOM in 2 minutes all of my hair will be shaved off, and in that time, another child and family will have to face the realities of cancer.
Childhood cancer warrior, Dr. Robert Arceci once said “Childhood cancer isn't a national problem. It's a global problem. If we want to cure it, we need to think globally.”
In support of this global battle, and the 300,000 children worldwide who are diagnosed with cancer each year, I am joining Georgetown’s efforts in exceeding their goal of raising $40,000 to fight this battle. To do so, my friends and colleagues at Georgetown have teamed up with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
St. Baldricks is the real deal and is second only to the US government in funding pediatric cancer research! St. Baldricks will direct all of the funds raised towards cancer experts nationally, and globally to bring solutions to the children and families who battle cancer daily.
Any amount will help these children and when I reach my goal of raising $1000 for the kids, I’ll trade in shampoo for some SPF 40 scalp sunscreen and lightning fast showers. Here's to hoping it grows back, and being the generation that ends pediatric cancer.
