I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: #TeamAaliyah

Everyone has their reasons for participating in this event. Every single person knows someone who is currently fighting this disease or someone who has sadly lost that fight. We live in a world where someone every day is given the news, and while heart breaking, nothing compares to the news that another child, is now added to this list. Our sweet friend Aaliyah lost her battle last year, she was 7 and a 1st grade student. She only started to live her life when it was cut short. She fought a brave battle always with a smile. She was loved by her fellow students and friends, and she touched the lives of many teachers and adults. Last year when we did this it was to help heal our school heart, this year it is to honor her memory. We are shaving our heads once again to raise money for childhood cancer research and to help other families like Aaliyah's. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It is treated differently with very different side affects, and childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So we know that our school family is powerful and stretches far. We are asking for your help once again... Our team, Mrs. Buffin, Mr. Lindemann, Magdalena Monreal and her daughter America, Ray Dorman and his son Luke plus anyone else we can convince, will be shaving their heads on March 22nd at a assembly at 2:00 in our school gym and it will be on Facebook live so everyone can watch! We Now we need your help, our goal is $5000 dollars!  Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. What better way to honor Aaliyah's memory than to help make sure no other 1st grader and their family ever has to go through this kind of pain.
