I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Turtle

Looks like I'll be participating for a second time! My experience the first time helped me see why the bald head is such an integral part of so many patients' narratives, despite being one of the (seemingly) less troubling parts of the experience. By itself, the "feedback" I got while my hair was short was troubling... In a broader context, why do we as a society have to put beauty standards over visions of health? A head of hair should only be a small price to pay for treatment, but it's so big.

Whatever point I was trying to make aside, St Baldrick's was also a fun experience that brought a larger community together with the goal of raising awareness and aiding the search for a cure. It's an organization that I would like to support, and I hope others will join me, whether it's as a shavee or as a donor. There are good people in this world who should not have to face their diagnosis alone.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
