I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. You may ask, well, why shave your head?? Simple! To reduce the stigma of baldness for children and even adults. People of all ages can naturally act differently, even scared around children who are bald. It is hard enough making friends as a child, let alone when you are sick, so let's teach our friends and family to be accepting of one another regardless of what they look like, and embrace the bald!

I am doing this as part of the Vikings Conquer Cancer event, with my students at Ocean County College as part of their Service Learning project. You will see at the bottom of this page, are 3 children we are honoring - Elena, Reese, and Jacob all three of them live locally in Ocean County and all 3 are currently in treatment. I know there are countless others affected and this foundation will send the funds to where they need to go, to make a difference.

If you want to join in the fun and festivities, register yourself to fundraise and/or get a stylish new do, (that requires no hair care products and will save you time getting ready in the morning) then use the links to register now!  My students are also looking for sponsors - in-kind sponsors or monetary! So please contact me if you can help in any way!

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
