As many of you know, I have a passion with working with children, which is what I am currently going to school for. Although I don't know exactly what I want to be, I do know that I want to work with kids and make a difference.
When I'm around children, I feel calm and inspired, and all of my stress's seem to be pushed aside because their little minds have not yet experienced some of the heartbreak in this world. I see so much potential in children and can't help but become attached to those I've worked with in the past either through babysitting/nannying/or in a classroom setting.
Friday's shooting in Connecticut was yet another eye opener that life is way too short, especially for kids just 5 years old of age, who barely got a taste of what life is really like.
While driving home today, I was in a horrible mood because I could not stand the look of my hair. I hated how damaged it was from the amount of times I had it colored and I was uncomfortable with it in a ponytail all day. I was so frustrated with this that I instantly became bitter and thought in my head "I wish I could just shave it off and not have to deal with it!" Then my wheels started turning in my head and I realized.... "I can."
Three things I want to do before I die- inspire a child, make a difference, leave a mark. All three of this can be accomplished with this one event of raising my goal of $5,000 in 30 days to shave my head in exactly one month.
Of course I don't really want to shave my head, and I was just having a moment of frustration since my curls weren't exactly right or my straighten pieces fell out of place... but what about the kids with cancer who have absolutely no choice but to watch their locks of gold fall out day by day as they are struggling through chemo? If they can do it, I most certainly can too..
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this, and PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
$5,000 in 30 days = 1 shaved head. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
