I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I have been a nurse on the pediatric nurse on the pediatric unit at Nebraska Medicine for a little over 5 years, and some of my favorite patients are the oncology/cancer patients. These kiddos and their families have such strength and tenacity in the face of something terrifying and unknown; I am continually inspired by them. This year I decided I wanted to show these families my support by participating in Nebraska Medicine’s annual fundraiser with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and shaving my head! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation raises money specifically for pediatric cancer research. My goal is to raise at least $500 by July 13, the day I lose my locks. If you feel called to support me in supporting my oncology family, I can’t tell you how much that would mean to them, and me. My hope is that fundraisers like these will bring us to a day where these families no longer need me, because they will be cancer free!

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
