I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hi Everyone! Over the last year you may have heard me talk about becoming a Shavee for St. Baldrick's and raising money to help kids with cancer. Well I have convinced my parents I am ready for it (I'm still not sure they are ready for it) and have signed up for the challenge at The Max in McCook, IL. Let me know if you would like to come out and watch and I will get you the details! My challenge is to raise money for the cause, and in turn I get my hair buzzed. I have thought long and hard over the last year about the best way I can help. I decided that shaving my head could help combat two different kinds of bullies. The 1st bully is Cancer, I chose to be a shavee because I wanted to raise money to help find a cure for cancer and make a bold statement. Cancer doesn't only pick on adults. It doesn't care how old you are and it doesn't care if you are a boy or a girl. The 2nd Bully is people, Shaving my head is not the "normal" thing for a girl. I want people to look at me and see me, not someone who looks different then they think they should, or someone with a haircut they think looks funny on a girl. I don't want human bullies to think its 'OK' to make fun of or laugh at anyone for being different. Please join me while I try to make a difference to all the families and kids out there that have to deal with the cancer bully. Thank you for visiting my page and reading my story. Anything you have been blessed with to be able to support my cause is appreciated and I thank you so much! Love, Kyra XOXO
