I am very proud to once again be shaving my head in solidarity with kids and families battling cancer. As you know, this mission is very near and dear to my heart for decades now. This will be my 29th head shave campaign in 27 years since we first got together at Jim Brady's to raise $17,000 for a worthy childhood cancer charity. A lot of years have passed, a lot of bald heads have been created, a lot of money raised for life saving cutting edge research, a lot of new treatments have been created, increasing survival rates and most importantly, a lot of young lives and the potential that comes with those lives saved.
But sadly, too many lives are still being lost to this horrible disease. And one life is way too many! And the cures can still sometimes be worse than the disease as we try to rid little bodies of the evils of cancer. So while lots of progress has been made, there remains a lot of work to be done. With that in mind, again this year, I humbly ask my friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to join me and support my efforts to find a more humane cure for all childhood cancers.
Each year I have dedicated my shave for young children and their families who are or have battled this monster known as cancer. And while I will always be doing this for the kids, this year I do my shave in memory of my Brother-in-Law and former multi-time shavee, Joe Buonocore, who lost his own battle to cancer this week. I hope he will be proud of our efforts.
Thank you in advance for your amazing support!!
John
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
