Harper says she is going to shave this year to “Help kids with cancer, and be brave like Lauren.”
Last year Harper had her first haircut on stage at the Pizza Ranch. (Fancy!)
I am not going to hold Harper to this promise. As traumatic as it is to think of her bald, I am also not going to stop her if she wants to shave when it is time for us to go forward. (I wish we had the opt out option when Lauren was diagnosed!)
Harper has so many questions about why her sister was taken from us. “Didn’t you pray?” she asks innocently. I still do, Harper.
We will never in this lifetime why our children suffer so, but I do believe we are obligated to recognize that suffering, and to do whatever is within our means to help.
Thank you very much for supporting our family, for helping us fund cures, and for supporting our Harper as she is on her own path in understanding what Pediatric Cancer has meant for her life. I think she is probably wiser and stronger than I give her credit.…
