I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

It's been almost 15 years, but the memories are still so vivid. I was in my 6th month of pregnancy with our 2nd son. Things seemed mostly normal, except for how large I was carrying. My OB ordered an ultrasound just to check things out. The results were NOT normal -- tumors were detected, and thus our pediatric cancer journey began.

After a couple of months chasing a firm diagnosis, it was determined that Owen has Neuroblastoma 4S (now called 4MS). This diagnosis was a favorable one -- watch, wait, see if it resolves. (Who knew cancer could self-resolve?!) This means that we were truly fortunate, as no treatments were prescribed and the prognosis was extremely favorable. Words cannot express how grateful I am for our now healthy teenager.

Owen's diagnosis also began our journey with St. Baldrick's. Our family has been involved every year since 2006. Most years we donate our time, but as it has been 8 years since I last went bald, it's time for me to once again "brave the shave!"

I am asking for your support for those who are not as fortunate -- those who have faced surgeries, months of treatments, lingering after-effects of treatment, and those who have not survived.

Please support me to improve the outcomes for all kids with cancer.
