Hi again everyone! This marks the 8th consecutive year I am raising money and shaving my head for St Baldricks. The reason I am so passionate about St Baldricks is because in 2019 I lost my younger brother Ouni to a rare form of cancer at the far too young age of 15. St Baldricks gives me an opportunity to talk about him as a way to try to honor his memory.
Ouni was an incredibly bright, driven, and funny kid. His personality would fill every room he walked into and it was always followed by lots of laughter. Ouni loved to play basketball and we would compete in the culdesac until it got too dark to see. He would play Rocket League with his cousin and friends late into the night. I used to complained because he would sometimes wake me up when he was yelling on Xbox live with joy (and sometimes frustration). We watched every single hawks game together and played an unreal amount of 2k. When we got a little older and I was old enough to drive we would go out for food, often just the two of us and I truly felt that he was my best friend. He was very excited for me when I got into Georgia Tech and I knew that he would be joining me in a few years. Unfortunately, Ouni never got that chance because in 2018 he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma and then in 2019 he passed away. I’ve missed my brother Ouni every single day since then and I always will.
This year I am hoping to reach my goal of 5k raised which would bring my career amount raised to over 33k. This money is used in the most impactful way to save children from cancer, a chance I wish Ouni had. There has already been tremendous progress directly from St Baldricks. St Baldricks has funded the research that has led to the first FDA approved Gene Therapy in the United States. It also has supported clinical trials that have already saved kids' lives like for Phineas, a four year old kid that was diagnosed with Leukemia. Please feel free to read more about the incredible progress made by St Baldricks to see for yourself where these funds are going.
If you can please donate whatever possible to this incredible cause that is very close to my heart so that we can help save kids from Cancer and allow them to grow up. Each kid has their whole lives ahead of them if we can just help find a cure. Please feel free to share
