I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! This is my third time shaving with St. Baldrick's. The first two times, I did it because I wanted to help raise awareness for childhood cancer. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect childhood cancer to hit close to home. Last year, my friend Michael's little sister, Emma, was diagnosed with a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme - Brain Cancer. I grew up with Michael and Emma and even though my family moved across the country a few years ago, our families remain very close. Sadly, one month ago, Emma lost her battle with this horrible disease. She was a light to all who knew her! She was my little brother's first crush (he was 2 1/2, she was 4), until he fell for her mom, Kelley. :) My family loves her family and I am shaving my head for a third time, and this time it's personal. I am shaving in loving memory of Emma and hope to raise money so that no other family has to go through what Emma's family has gone through. #EmmaStrong
Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so, in honor of Emma, I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.
Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
