I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Summiteers

I am shaving my head at the 2019 St. Baldrick's event to help raise funds for an organization I care about, because they care about kids. I have volunteered at this event for the past 4 years and have heard the stories, and have seen the amazing impact to the families and children who are suffering, and who have suffered, from childhood cancers.

I am most passionate about the work St. Baldrick's is doing to help survivorship. A recent study shows that because of the treatments childhood cancer survivors had as kids, by the time they’re 45, more than 95% of survivors will have a chronic health problem and 80% will have a severe or life-threatening condition. This research includes prevention of late effects and interventions for patients who are already experiencing them.

As an educator, I am deeply committed to my students and if I can raise awareness for the plight of those who suffer from the after-affects of their fight with childhood cancer, I will.

I don't see this action as being just to raise funds, but to raise awareness. As a prominent figure in the Grand Junction community here in Colorado, and in the international community of Music education, I hope to be able to make a more significant impact.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
