I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Inpatient Peds Team

I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Inpatient Peds Team

As most of you know, this year I started a new job as child life specialist at Children's Hospital University of Illinois. My job is to help children and families cope with new diagnoses and the challenges of hospitalization. I am the lead organizer in the planning of our St. Baldrick's event this year. I will be working with a team to plan and coordinate our event, recruiting staff and community members to shave their heads to raise awareness, and fundraising to raise money for childhood cancer research.

The kids I work with that are affected by cancer are the most strong, brave, and inspiring kids I have ever met. I witness and experience the rollercoaster of emotions, extreme life changes, and the "new normal" that comes along with the diagnosis of cancer. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Our hospital as a whole has a goal to raise $20,000 dollars this year for our event. If you want to help- you can make a donation! Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Thank you for supporting me, my hospital, and this amazing organization!
