I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Brave Hearts

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Brave Hearts

Greetings!

This will be my fourth year shaving my head through St. Baldrick's and I am so excited to Brave the Shave! Many people over the years have questioned why I continue to do this year after year, and to me the answer is simple – kids are suffering and dying from cancer, and I can do something to try and change that – so I am.

Over the past 4 years, my life and the life of those around me have been heavily impacted by cancer. My buddy Brooks, fellow softball player Halle, my cousin Blake, my former teammate Grace, fellow greyhounds Matt and Bella, my good friend and neighbor Tyler, fellow Boilermaker Ben, and so many more have all have their lives changed by the word “cancer”.

“Everyone has a story, there just needs to be someone to listen to that story” – Tyler Trent

By shaving my head this year, I not only want to raise money to help find a cure so no more kids have to go through what they have gone through, but I also want to honor/encourage them and other kids who have lost their hair to cancer, to let them know that they are not alone in their fight.

“Without donations research cannot get done and the research being done will IMPACT generations to come.” – Tyler Trent

Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Even spare change or a few dollars can go a long way!

By shaving this year I plan to honor the survivors those who have gone from this Earth, while helping to continue their legacy, to continue this fight, to fight for those with cancer now and those who will get it in the future, so hopefully, with enough research, no child will ever have to hear the words “you have cancer”.

Together we can make a difference, together we can change the world.

Cheers,

Darby
