Nearly six years ago, a senior in High School, I was asked to do a Senior Project that would be mandatory to meet graduation requirements. I've always had a dream to be a Pediatric Oncologist. So I thought! I was young and wasn't working, so having money to donate was hard. That's when I knew I wanted to make an impact. I decided to do my Senior Project on The research and funding behind Pediatric Oncology. What I didn't know was I needed to brace myself for what was ahead. From then on I have realized I am not the person to look a parent in the eyes and tell them, "Your child has cancer."
Getting up on that stage for the first time. Full of fear and nervous of what was about to happen. The buzzing of the clippers came close to my ear. That moment I knew there was no turning back. I'm going bald!
The feeling of great accomplishment after walking off that stage, was so prideful. To know I was there for one thing and one meaning. The children and a cure. I haven't wanted to stop since!
I've decided for my fourth year participating with St. Baldrick's. I would bump up the stakes and challenge myself to raise more money and be more involved. This is so near and dear to my heart and nobody deserves to suffer through cancer, especially a child.
Lives are lost everyday to cancer. Let's help change that!
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
Let's find a cure, I need your help!
