'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. In college I shadowed a physician in the pediatric bone marrow transplant ward at OU Children's Hospital and I got to see firsthand what the families and patients must endure because of cancer. This breaks my heart, so I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.
Also, I want to show the beauty of baldness. I want to break down barriers to "professionalism" and "beauty" by the standards to which women are held. What makes you beautiful is your internal strength, empathy, and passion, NOT your physical appearance.
Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
If you would rather I DIDN'T shave my head, then fine.... If I raise more money for "keep" than "shave", then I will raise DOUBLE the money for childhood cancer research and satiate the cultural norm for a little while longer. So, what's it gonna be? Leave a comment with your donation and we'll see who wins.
