I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bald Babes

My freshman year of high-school feels like it was a hundred years ago. But I still remember my very first St. Baldrick's event. I had convinced myself that I would not cut my hair, ever. But right before the event, I decided I would chop off eight inches of my hair. Then I thought that I was done, that I had done my part and that I had no reason to get further involved. Here I am in my senior year of high-school, as the Lead Organizer and signed up to shave. Funny how life works out sometimes. For the longest time I could not figure out why I kept getting more and more involved in St. Bakdrick's each year. But I realize now that it is because life is not a storybook. Bad things sometimes happen to good people, sometimes there isn't a bad guy to lock up, and sometimes there is no happy ending. But heroes exist. I see them when they ask how to volunteer for St. Baldrick's, I see them dumping all of the change they can spare into our collection jars, and I saw them filling the gym at last year's event. These heroes are the reason I keep coming back. No one forces them to these things; they do them because they can, and in their eyes this means that they should. These heroes don't sling webs or leap between buildings in colorful costumes. But they saves lives. Be a hero yourself, and donate to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Together we can stop childhood cancer in its tracks.
