I am notoriously picky about hair cuts. My hair has never been shorter than my cheeks, and I'm fairly certain that I cried when it was at its shortest (...in third grade). Yet, I'm ready; I'm willing, and I'm excited to make the leap. I am having my head shaved bald out of respect for all individuals who have battled, are battling, or will battle cancer.
As I struggle to learn a truly humbling amount of information, I have found that it is easy to lose perspective and get caught up in the stress of school. But I know that my struggle is nothing compared to the mental, physical, and emotional struggles of any of the kids honored. Consequently, I am setting my stress aside to appreciate that one out of every five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. I am stopping to say thank you for my twenty-four healthy years of life. And I am shaving my head in order to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer and to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
