Summary:

To help kids fighting cancer, I'm a volunteer with the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Please support me! With head-shaving and other fundraising events, this volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail. Thank you!

Additional Details:

This will be the third year that I will have the honor to volunteer. I wish could volunteer as shavee, but as most of you know, unfortunately I don’t have much hair to donate. Instead, I volunteer my time as a volunteer and now a fundraiser to raise money to fight for a cure; and to hopefully give these children a fighting chance.

I also volunteer, since it’s personal, as my parents were both diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. My Dad is currently in remission. Unfortunately, my Mom is still fighting Stage IV cancer. When I have a chance, I help my Mom with accompanying her with her hospital visits. She tells me that it gives her hope knowing that her family is standing with her in her battle. It's always difficult to see a young child walking next to us in the hospital on the way to their treatment or test. Being a parent myself, I am amazed and inspired by cancer diagnosed children; their bravery and patience are truly incredible. Those treatments and tests are not easy to experience. They are several hours long, sometimes painful, have a plethora of side effects, and are usually very frequent. I see how my Mom suffers from the side effects and pray every day, that no one, especially someone as young as my son, who will be five in the end of March, will ever know cancer. Cancer brings war into a family, with victory based on science and financial assistance to cover scientific research costs. Everyone wants to find hope, to believe in a cure.

This will be the 6th year that NetApp is involved in raising money for St. Baldrick’s, having raised over $1.8 million dollars globally in that time by hosting shaving parties all over the globe.

This will be my first year as a fundraiser with a goal of $3,000 that I hope I can over-achieve with your help!

For those that don’t know, The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. Since the Foundation’s first grants as an independent charity in 2005, St. Baldrick’s has funded more than $77 million in childhood cancer research. For more information about the St. Baldrick’s Foundation please call 1.888.899.BALD or visit www.stbaldricks.org.

This year’s shaving party in NYC will take place on Wednesday, March 14th at Crimson (915 Broadway at 21st ST.) at 4 PM EST, and I am looking for your help. I will hopefully again have the honor of helping kids, last year a few were as young as my son, they also included NetApp staff, customers, partners and even some sports personalities donate their hair for a great cause. To quote one of the kids from last year, "Hey, it's just hair and if it helps...Then why not?” I leave these events energized with hope because of such statements. If guess if there's good will, then there's hope.

If you are able, make a donation. Your donations are tax-deductible and also, if your employer offers donation matching, you can do that too.

Thanks in advance for your support! Also, if you know other people that might be interested in supporting this great cause as well, feel free to pass it along. Every penny counts and will make a huge difference.

No one especially a child should experience cancer. Help us fight for a cure, and win the battle! Thanks again!

Regards,
Alex
