I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Wes

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Wes

Wesley, Stephanie (mom), and Roger (dad) packed up their lives in Southern California and spent two months exploring across the US at the beginning of 2018, eventually settling in New Hope, PA. With another baby on the way in March, the Howards felt like they found the perfect place to raise their growing family.

At the end of October, a visit to our pediatrician about a minor rash on his thigh lead quickly to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where Wesley was diagnosed with B-Cell ALL. Within those few short hours our lives were turned upside down.

Even on our worst days Wes is a beacon of light and the best thing to ever happen to us. His humor and spirit and the perseverance and resilience he shows us every day is inspiring, but this terrible disease should never have darkened his childhood.

St. Baldricks mission is in perfect alignment with ours: we never want to see another beautiful child and their family have to go through this again, and by raising awareness we can help get neighbors and strangers alike involved in the cause. We’ve always valued community, and this experience has only underscored for us how essential it is to tackle big challenges with the help of others. Thank you for joining us and St. Baldricks, contributing your voice, your time, your money, and maybe even your hair to support research that will someday relegate stories like ours to history.
