Friends and Family,
It's that time again! I signed up to shave my head BALD to raise money for Children's Cancer Research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. This year I will be shaving at Fado's Irish Pub in Denver, CO on Friday, March 10, 2017. If you live in Denver or will traveling through, check back here for my shavee time slot if you would like to come watch. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is close to my heart because I have had family and friends affected by Cancer. I know my hair will grow back and I am honored to shave in solidarity with those enduring cancer treatments, as well as others shaving to raise money and awareness for Children's Cancer. I hope you will help me reach my goal of $3,000 this year! It's a lofty goal, but with your help in spreading the word, I know I can reach it.
"Two minutes from now, a child will be diagnosed with cancer, and another family will be faced with the very real possibility of losing their child."
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a childhood cancer charity funding research to help find cures for children with cancer. The Foundation raises money for childhood cancer research primarily through head-shaving events. Volunteers, sponsored by family, friends and employers, shave their heads in solidarity with children who typically lose their hair during cancer treatment. Events have taken place in all 50 US states and 28 countries. Since 2000, St. Baldrick's Foundation volunteers have organized nearly 4,200 head-shaving events and shaved over 190,500 heads, raising over $118 million for life-saving childhood cancer research.
If you wonder how I could shave my head, I ask that you watch the three videos posted below of children that have deeply touched my heart and soul: The first is Talia Joy Castellano, who passed away in 2013, the second is Emily Ringham, who continues her fight and who is currently cancer-free! I have grown close to her and her family over several years. The third, is Delaney Clements, who passed away in 2016. Last, but certainly not least, I want to honor my dear cousin! You know who you are and I hope you also know I will continue this fight with you and others! Keep living your life to the fullest! xoxo
