My mom shaved her head for St. Baldrick’s years ago, way before my brother passed away from suicide, and it’s something I’ve always remembered. After losing my brother and going through a lot of other things in my own life, I think I’ve just started looking at certain things differently.
Obviously the main reason I’m doing this is to raise money for childhood cancer research, but there’s a personal reason too. I care way too much about my hair and how I look sometimes, and I can admit I’m a pretty vain person lol. I’ve thought about shaving my head before, but actually doing it scares me because I’ve attached a lot of my confidence to my appearance. So I figured if I’m going to do something that scares me and forces me to let go of some of that vanity, I might as well do it for something that actually matters and hopefully raise a lot of money while I’m at it.
My hair will grow back, and I think that’s part of the point for me. I get to choose to lose my hair knowing it’ll come back, while so many kids don’t get a choice in what cancer takes from them.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
