Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
My family and I were among the many families that recieve this awful diagnosis.
It has been 10 years since my youngest daughter was diagnosed with a retinoblastoma.
This journey for me started with just a question. Would you shave your hair off to stand in solidarity with the children who dont have a choice. My answer of course was yes absolutely. They replied great now go out and raise as much money as you can to help fund this research. At the first event my youngest wasn't even born yet. It was just something you do to help. Little did I know that this event would become so important to me.
Then the day came where we were given the news. She had cancer at a week old. After a whirlwind of tests and bloodwork we arrived at CHLA (Children's Hospital of Las Angeles) to begin her treatment. Only to be told it had progressed to far and we had no choice but to remove her eye. Thanks to the amazing staff there my daughter has been cancer free for the past 10 years.
From that moment on I vowed that I would continue to raise money for this amazing cause until I couldn't walk on that stage anymore.
Together we can do something to stop more families from recurrent the same news we did. With anyone's kind support we can make a difference. Every little bit helps.
Thank you everyone for reading my story and I hope you can find it in your heart to donate to this cause and help us fight cancer.
