I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Reese’s Pieces

Why am I shaving my head?  Because I can.  And it can help!  How?

Fundraising for this organization gives researchers and teams a source of granted funding to help cure childhood cancer.  I wanted to help but with my lack of understanding of the sciences, I figured that I would go with my strengths of knowledge: growing hair and MONEY!

The first year I shaved was when I heard a child in my community was sick.  How?  He was playing baseball with my kids.  How did he get cancer?  He's a great kid!  I knew that I had to help and with my well established lack of scientific skills, I knew that I could shave it all off the old dome and hope for the best.

He went into remission.  Cancer free!  Awesome news.  I did it.  I didn't shave the next year.  Then another local child became sick.  I knew who she was too.  Well, hair be gone!  She's cancer free!  Then another.  I would honor her then.  Sadly, she became an Angel.  I can never stop now.  Never.  I made a promise to her mother at her services.  I will never stop and it will be in her honor.  No stopping until we cure them all.  I can't watch more parents say a final good-bye to their children.  I'll never stop.  It's all for them!
