My nephew Tyler James Gray (Ty) would have been 23 years old this month. His courageous fight was an inspiration for us all to do more, impact more, appreciate the moments of life, and be more aware of the journeys that other kids and their families face.
I was in the room when he was born on 2/19/1997. I will always remember playing wiffle ball and football in his Papou’s (my Dad’s) front yard. My family remembers the escapades of miniature golf, who had and had not taken their “Grumpy Pills”, and maple syrup that had to be on the table with baked ham.
I will always remember where I was when we found out he had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. And where I was when my sister called me to tell me that Ty was going home because he wanted to sleep in his own bed. A few days later, on July 9, 2015, after an 8-month courageous battle, we lost a really cool spirit.
Our loss is Paradise’ gain.
