I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team CKCKC

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team CKCKC

Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

I learned about this event way back when a kid named Joshua Rein was running the show. It was awesome to see a kid bossing all of these full-grown adults around. Plus, it was raising money for an amazing cause, so I jumped at the chance to shave my head for the first time. The experience was awesome and the people were so cool! As you can imagine, I was so excited to shave two more times before Joshua graduated.

Fast forward to two years ago, and I'm sitting in my sixth-grade classroom thinking about how much fun it would be to do that again, so I sent a note to Sarah Zematis about how I can help out with planning. It turned out that no one was running it that year, so I decided that it was my turn. Keep in mind, this is right in the middle of Covid, so we weren't allowed to host anything inside the school. That year we raised over $53,000, bringing our grand total for all of the past CKCKC events to over $500,000!!! That was the proudest I'd ever been.

Last year, we brought CKCKC back indoors and were so excited to do everything all over again. We managed to raise over $48,000, which meant that the event had made $100,000 when I was in charge. That was amazing!

This year, I am so grateful that I get to do this for my third and final year! We have made so many amazing memories over the years and I am confident that this year will be the best event EVER!! I can't wait to make even more memories!

Anyways, back to the original question, why am I shaving my head and why should you care? I am not shaving my head just to raise money. I'm doing it because it shows that I care. I haven't had cancer, and I (hopefully) never will. I'm doing this to show everybody out there who is struggling with this battle that they are not alone. They may not know me, and they may never know me, but this shows them that they have someone in their corner even when all seems lost. This shows that I care. You can show that you care too by donating. I know that was a shameless plug, but I'm serious. Every donation makes a difference. Any amount that is meaningful to you means the world to us.
