I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team CKCKC

Hi, my name is Leo Z.

On January 20, 2015, my little sister, Sophia, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We have been going to Lurie children's hospital for over four years for her treatment. During that time, I have met many amazing kids there. When you get to know these children, you see that they are just kids like us that fight every day for their life.

I am especially proud to be a part of Chiaravalle Kids Conquer Kids Cancer, as it is an event created by kids for kids. For our third year, I am looking forward to raising even more research funds and support for the children in need of our help.

The first year I participated in this event I cut off 8 in. of my hair to have a wig made, raising over $5500.

My second year I volunteered, going to local businesses asking for sponsorship, while also raising over $5800.

This will be my third year, and this event posing a different, fun challenge. My math teacher Jake, who is one of the most amazing people I have ever met, is also shaving his head, and he is letting the middle schooler in my class who raises the most money, to shave his head and beard. So please, help me in my quest, TO SHAVE JAKES HEAD.

The other big change for my third year will be that I am shaving my head! I started growing my hair out when Sophia was born in 2012 and have been enjoying it ever since. Even though it was a really hard decision for me to let go of this part of my identity, I think I am ready for this change. This is my final St. Baldrick's event at my elementary school with my friends and I wanted to make it big. CKCKC has been a great celebration of all that my school community represents. I am proud to be a part of it and want to give it my all
