I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Watson Family

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Watson Family

My name is Kevin Morgan Watson, publisher at Press 53 in Winston-Salem, NC. I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! OK, so shaving my head is no big deal, as my kids remind me almost daily, but I am letting my hair grow until St. Baldrick's Day. Scary I know, but not nearly as scary as childhood cancer. And no child should have to fight this fight alone, just as no man with very little hair should have to shave his head alone, so I've convinced my wife, daughter, and son to join me. That's right, Cathy, Ella (she wears the funny animal hats at Mast General Store), and Marcus are going to shave their heads, and together we hope to raise $1,000 for childhood cancer research. We hope you will join us by making a donation. But here is the real deal. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded, so the fight is kind of lopsided. Donating money to help find cures is one way to help. Shaving your head to help raise awareness and money to help find cures is another. With your help, we can give some kids a fighting chance.

Here is our challenge: If a book has ever inspired or entertained you—made you laugh, cry, think, cringe, scream, or left you amazed—then donate an amount equal to the price of a book. Just one book. And then ask your friends to do the same. Let's see if we can raise some serious money to help fight childhood cancer, and show Cathy and Ella that shaving their heads was not a foolish idea (I would appreciate it). Thank you.

P.S. A shout out to my buddy Steve Beagley, who used to grow his hair to ridiculous lengths each year only to shave it all to raise money for a local charity in Kansas City, MO. Steve left us earlier this year after a short battle with cancer, which he handled with grace and class. Steve always had the heart of a child, so this is for you, buddy.
