I've answered the call to be a hero for the 4th straight year! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids.
Typically, I choose to shave in honor of a child who is currently fighting cancer. This year, however, I have chosen to raise money and shave in honor of a child who lost their battle. This year I shave in honor of little Kayleigh Watkins. This brave little girl's story touched my heart in a way no one else ever has.
Kayleigh was diagnosed at 6 months with a cancer called Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor or at/rt. She had 51 weeks of chemo with 2 weeks in between each session. She had 28 visits for proton radiation as well. On April 30, 2011 her family was told that sweet Kayleigh had relapsed. This cancer is VERY aggressive and they knew it could come back, but they were praying it would not. On July 11, 2011 sweet, beautiful Kayleigh passed away at home, taking her last breath in her mother's loving arms. Kayleigh was only 22 months old when she lost her battle.

Little Kayleigh's story is exactly why donations to the St. Baldrick's Foundation are so important. No child should ever have to suffer the effects of cancer and no family should ever have to suffer the loss of a child to cancer. Please click "Make a donation" to give generously online and save a child's life. If you prefer to give cash, please contact me on my Facebook page to make arrangements.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and make a donation. Together, we can save many young lives.
