I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Cirque Du Sobald

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So even though I already manage all industry sponsored studies at Children's Specialty Center of Nevada, I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Even if it's just $5... Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

Unlike my hair, each child is irreplaceable.

That’s why I’m shaving my head on March 1st.

My friend Stephanie was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma after what she thought was a bad Thanksgiving meal - a particularly vicious cancer of the immune system. Stephanie fought the disease for a year and a half but developed complications after receiving a stem cell transplant and became my guardian angel February 23, 2011.

I met Stephanie when I worked at Nevada Cancer Institute. She was like my second mom and I was like the daughter she was never able to have. Although she was an adult when she was diagnosed, Stephanie believed in being part of research and was willing to do it to help others even after her passing.

Please help kids survive by sponsoring my shave; all funds will go towards childhood cancer research – research that will give kids a future.

In 2007, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation made the first grant to what is today the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada, where I work, which treats all of Nevada’s children with cancer. Each year, center staff, lead by Annette Logan and Dr. Jonathan Bernstein, team up with Lynn and Brian McMullan and their dedicated committee of St. Baldrick’s volunteers to hold an event at McMullan's Irish Pub on March 1st. I am honored to shave with a team that fights each day for children’s futures.

I dedicate my shave to my mom, Stephanie, and every young person who has bravely shown us how to make every minute and every strand of hair count.

Please donate like these kids were your own.

With gratitude,
Jess
