Well, the donation day has finally come, and you can see evidence in the photos above! Dalton and I had an incredible day at the Harp Irish Pub. With help from our families who came to the shaving, our final total donation, including money turned in on the day of the event, was almost $7400!!!!!!!
Dalton was amazing- he had the place wrapped around his finger. He wore a sign on his back that read "head rubs: $1.00." After walking around the first few minutes with Candy, his grandmother, he comes up to me grinning and hands me almost $150 in cash. Whoa. Then he tells me "we're not done yet" and goes back out. He comes back later with another $100. To make it even better, a very special teacher in the crowd (see photos) whose name we didn't get, gave him $110. So Dalton single-handedly raised $360!
Later that day another very special thing happened. Eileen Evans, Abby's Irish dance instructor, donates $650 to my St. Baldrick's fund. This money was supposed to go to the school as payment for their performance. Instead Eileen became an angel and made an gesture so generous I still tear up thinking about it. God bless you, Eileen! Go Mulligan School of Irish Dance! They are the best!
And lastly, the best news of all. For those who don't know, Dalton's cancer is now officially in remission. If I had not collected one penny, this news would have made it all worthwhile. Go to Dalton's web page for the full update:

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who donated this year. This event will restore your faith in humanity, and remind you that there is truly good in this world. I look forward to another successful event in 2012!
