I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: CR North Team SHARE

Hi, this is Brendan Moriarty! My dad and I have been St. Baldrick’s shavees since 2013, when I was 10 years old. I’m now 16, and we haven’t missed a single shave. My dad and I started doing this because my family has been directly affected by childhood cancer in the past. My mom’s sister, my Aunt Meg, died of cancer at age 2, before my mom could ever meet her. Several years ago, we began honoring Oliver Edson, the son of my dad’s friend. Together, we have helped raise over $23,000 to help St. Baldrick’s fund cancer research. Grants by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation have funded some of the most effective cancer treatment drugs being developed. For 2018, we’re expanding! I have been part of a non-profit organization at Council Rock North called SHARE since I entered high school, and this year became an officer. I have come up with a way to combine these two excellent organizations, and help more people. I will be inviting my peers from SHARE to join the St. Baldrick’s event, and there are various different options for what people can do to help. They can join the shave themselves, girls can give eight inches for wigs for those who need them, and people can even help with the event. I hope that people can help out and join with this event, and make a big effect in many people’s lives!
