I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Ty

It is that time again!! For the 17th consecutive year, I will be shaving my head in an act of solidarity with children diagnosed with cancer. I am one of only three people in the entire world with such a streak, and only one person has participated in these great events for more years than I. You may ask why I do this, and so I will tell. Back in 1999, my little brother, Erich Andrew "Andy" Beck, was diagnosed with cancer, he was 20 months old at the time. He lost a kidney and went through chemo and radiation, but being the fighter he is, he beat it and after maintaining "clean scans" for 5 years was declared a "Survivor"!! We lost Andy to complications from those earlier surgeries in Feb. 2005, but the strength and courage he showed during his fight back in 1999-2000 was an inspiration to all who know him. If you would like the full story, feel free to drop me a note and i will do my best to share. So now you know why, every year for the past 16 years, I have spent about half the year bald and then begin growing it back to shave again. So, what can YOU do? DONATE DONATE DONATE!!! every cent we raise goes to fund potentially life-saving research into childhood cancers. AND for the past several years, most of what we raise a our event stays right here, in Pittsburgh. Doctors at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh have received grants from the Foundation in excess of $200,000 over the years!! Thanks you for taking the time to read this, and for those of you who do, thanks for donating to this most worthy of causes!!!
