I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Joey's Team - Bald is Beautiful

10 years ago, I schlepped my kids up onto stage to shave our heads for kids cancer research.  Many of you have heard my story.  If you've heard it... just click on the donate button and get to it.

If not - here's the short version.  Family, friends, friends of friends have all been hit with cancer.  Some are kids, some are adults, but all of them are devastating stories.  Some have happy endings, a lot don't.  It started as a tool to teach my boys to be proactive.  To get involved in causes that are important to them, to help people, to DO something instead of waiting for the inevitable.

It's turned into the biggest blessing.  We've shaved our heads with family, with friends, with strangers.  We've laughed and cried with these people.  We've watched as St. Baldrick's has made advances in this critical research.  We fell in love with the mission and family that this organization has brought into our lives.

St. Baldrick's was started by some insurance company executives.  If you're interested in the story, go to the website and check it out.  It's just another tie that makes this journey more important to me.  It's spread way outside the boundaries of the insurance industry, but it's roots and support are still there.  It's just another reason I love this charity and their cause.

It
hit our community with the incredible story of fellow Boilermaker Tyler Trent.  I've read his book multiple times. It is truly an inspiring story that touched the world.  Just recently, Brooks Blackmore lost his battle with cancer.  His story is gutwrenching.  In both cases, St. Baldrick's was there.  Their families have been outspoken at the difference the organization made in their lives.

Those are both local stories, and they are 2 of millions.  St. B has ties to Indianapolis through Riley.  There are doctors there that receive critical funding to continue their research and they are making a difference.  Again, I'll point you to the website to research those advancements.

Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
