My Story

Thank you for supporting Sophie and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. Sophie Lynne Rossi, age 18 months, passed peacefully in her parents’ arms at The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on May 2nd, 2015, following a courageous 15 month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Sophie brought smiles and joy to everyone she encountered in her short life.  She loved Elmo, watching Wheel of Fortune, blowing kisses, dancing and shimmying, and deejaying on the nearest iPhone. She was the beloved daughter of Anthony and Kallie (Nordengren) Rossi, Jr. of Newburyport; loving granddaughter of Charles and Rebecca (Wholley) Nordengren of Methuen and Anthony and Joanne (Horton) Rossi of Salisbury; treasured great granddaughter of Helen (Jacob) Horton of Salem, NH and Marguerite (Morin) Nordengren of Bradford; dear niece of Kevin and Kacey (Nordengren) Oreal of Newburyport and Cara Rossi of Astoria, NY; and adored cousin of Jack and Madelyn Oreal of Newburyport. In lieu of flowers, Sophie’s family would be honored to have you support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in their mission to fund critical pediatric cancer research.
