My Story

My name is Penelope, but you can call me Penny. I was diagnosed with B-cell leukemia when I was 4 years old. Because I was so sick in the beginning I had to be intubated for 18 days. Thankfully my doctors and nurses were great and I got to go home after 31 days. Fast Forward to June 2025. I finally got to ring the BELL after 2.5 years of treatment. Today I am an active 7 year old who goes to school, jiu jitsu, Swim lessons and Girl Scouts! Because of research done by St. Baldrick's and many others I get to enjoy my childhood. But research is still so so important. Many kids end up with lifelong side effects. Like me! Treatment was very harsh on my young body, so now I wear a hearing aid to help me hear better. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
