My Story

Evelyn was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on August 7, 2010, a few months before her third birthday. We stayed at Johns Hopkins for 28 days straight after her diagnosis and spent most of the first year in and out of the hospital. We participated in studies which caused some delay, but she was officially *done* with chemo right before her fifth birthday. We are incredibly grateful to the nurses, doctors, and the organizations that supported our family during that time. At this point, Evelyn is in remission, but we make our annual trip to Hopkins to check if there is damage to her major organs from the chemo, if there are long-term psychological effects, and if the cancer has come back. Thank you for raising awareness for childhood cancer, a cause that has changed our family forever.
