My Story

Gabby is a 16, almost 16yo 12thgrader who completed treatment for osteosarcoma in July 2017. She was diagnosed on 11/7/17 after complaining of knee pain. She started her 1st of 18 rounds of chemo on 11/10/17 and completed chemo on 7/21/18. On 12/16/17 she had a limb salvage surgery of her left leg. The tumor, her knee and 6” of her femur were removed and replaced with titanium. 16 mo post surgey she is still learning how to walk on her own and is dealing with the permanent side effects of chemo. Gabby had a leg lengthening revision done on 12/30/20 as she grew more than her orthopedic oncologist anticipated. Chemo caused significant hearing loss so she now wears hearing aids. Gabby continues to have scans every 6months as her cancer has a 50% chance of recurrence over the next 2 years. She had 3 yr scans on 7/27/21 and remains cancer free.
