My Story

Our amazing, courageous, strong son was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in his left thigh. After noticing a lump in his leg that grew to the size of a baseball in a matter of weeks. After an MRI we were sent to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. After biopsies and scans we received our diagnosis of Stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma. We have an amazing team of doctors at Primary Children's and in Grand Junction leading us through this journey. Cody will have 43 weeks of chemo therapy and we are currently doing week 13. We have been able to do the smaller or out patient chemo in Grand Junction which has been a blessing. We would have to come to SLC every week if we didn't have our amazing Dr. Zind in GJ. On March 7th we had a MRI and there was a 90% reduction in his Tumor! So we have decided to do surgery and remove the tumor now that it is smaller and the surgeon is confident he can get it all out. This surgery is Scheduled for April 13th and will be preformed at PCH. Then on May 9th he started a 20 day radiation treatment on his leg to make sure there isn't any annoying cells left behind. The radiation will be done at the Huntsman Institute in SLC. He is continuing his 30 weeks left of chemo and going strong! Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
