My Story

Macy was born with Down Syndrome but had no major health issues other than the normal things that go along with Down Syndrome. But on August the 18th, 2006 just 55 days before her 3rd birthday things changed. Macy was fine when I saw her at lunch on that Friday but after 5:00 that day she couldn't walk. I took her to the pediatrician and then was sent to the local hospital. The next morning we was transported to UNC Children's Hospital. On August 20, 2006 she was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL). Treatment was started immediately and she continued treatment until Oct 22, 2008. Needless to say that was a long hard journey, but with the Lords help and Dr. Gold and UNC Children's hospital we are fast approaching her 14th Birthday. Macy enjoys playing with her two sisters Taylor and Jenna. She also enjoys going to school, and making new friends. To say the least Macy just loves Life and being her sweet little self. We love every minute with her and do not take it for granted. Thank you for supporting us and more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. Thank you and God Bless!!
