My Story

Luke made it to his first day as a high school Freshman at Wilson and then spiked a fever that kept him from returning the rest of the week. When his fever continued without relief for several days, he was admitted on Saturday, 9/6 to Miller Children’s Hospital at Long Beach Memorial for more tests. On Tuesday, 9/9/14, Luke was diagnosed with Leukemia. After a 6 month battle, rigorous chemotherapy and 182 days in the hospital, Luke was in remission. Just as life had started to get back to normal and shortly after Luke began his Sophomore year, he relapsed. On 10/16/2015, we found out the cancer was back and Luke was admitted to Miller Children's Hospital to begin treatment in hopes of a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). On 2/1/16, Luke was admitted to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and received his BMT on 2/12/16. Luke, an avid golfer, has an amazing spirit and will to fight. Throughout this journey, he remains positive and has maintained the most incredible sense of humor. His easy going nature and warm smile have captured the hearts of his doctors and nurses, who have become such an integral part of our family.
